Everyone enjoys playing solitaire, but most people know only one or two games. Actually, there are hundreds of different games that one person can play with one or two decks of cards. They are all solitaires, and each has its own name and its own special challenges and delights.
Solitaire Till Dawn™ is a program that will let you play eight different solitaires on your Macintosh. If you only know one solitaire, it’s probably the one called “Klondike.” It’s in here, but don’t pass up the others! You’ll be delighted by the variety and challenge offered by these games.
Solitaire Till Dawn was written by Rick Holzgrafe, author of Applicon and Scarab of RA.
Solitaire Till Dawn Demo
The Solitaire Till Dawn Demo is for you to try out, to see whether you would like to own Solitaire Till Dawn. The demo program is free, and may be copied and given to friends. It very much like Solitaire Till Dawn, except:
• The demo plays only two games, Klondike and Miss Milligan. The other games are disabled.
• A number of useful features are disabled in the demo.
• The demo’s aces have the word “DEMO” on them.
• The demo looks for its color card images in the file “ColorCards Demo” instead of in the file ”ColorCards”.
Using the Demo Program
If you have a color monitor, make sure that the two files Solitaire Till Dawn Demo and ColorCards Demo are in the same folder. If you don't have color, you don't need ColorCards Demo.
If you want to leap right in, just start up Solitaire Till Dawn Demo by double-clicking it. It will automatically lay out a game of Klondike for you, and you will probably have no trouble figuring out how to use the mouse to play. But soon, if not right now, you should read the chapter About Solitaire Till Dawn, and the rules for Miss Milligan.
If anything happens that you don’t understand, read About Solitaire Till Dawn; if it’s not explained there, read the chapter about Trouble-Shooting.
Memory
If you use MultiFinder, or System 7.0 or later, you may want to adjust Solitaire Till Dawn’s memory needs. (See your Macintosh User’s Guide if you don’t know how to do this.)
